My Story

Hi there, my name is Lina Lee and I’m a product designer with a background in veterinary science.

Throwing myself out of my comfort zone

I moved to the States at the age of 13 as a first-generation American born to Korean parents, which I come to think of as the biggest change in my life. Having to adjust to a whole new culture wasn’t an easy path, but I always believed in my growth as a person.

While I was in undergrad, I studied animal science to become a veterinarian but I never felt like I was bringing out the full capacity of what I could do as a creative person. So once again, I decided to throw myself into a new change: becoming a product designer.

Feeling the power of genuineness

As I went through those constant changes, I realized that most of my personal values come from empathy itself. Being understood and able to share my feelings with others always empowered me as a person and motivated me as I lived out new experiences.

Then I came to another realization: to truly empathize with one another requires a genuine intention.

I strongly believe in the power of sincere consideration, which I hope to show as my main quality as a designer.

In my free time…

I love to express my values through visual elements with hidden meanings. Whenever I have a message I’d like to spread out, I write it out in my notes first, then transform it into my drawings, in the hopes of returning the emotional comfort I’ve received to the others.

Right now, I’m learning…
